Expanding and deepening our investment in Bloomberg Equality

Stephen Colvin

In 2018, I was privileged to be part of the team that launched the Bloomberg Equality Summit, convening leaders across business, government and nonprofits who wanted to learn, grow and thrive as they built a more equitable world. This collaborative, deeply meaningful experience helped shape me both personally, and professionally in my role as Chief Commercial Officer of Bloomberg Media.

As Bloomberg Equality began to grow globally —  from New York to London to Mumbai — I had the opportunity to partner with brand teams around the world, and develop strategies to help them connect with audiences around these urgent issues in more authentic ways.

The events of this past year have raised our collective global conscience. Equality and inclusion are no longer a nice-to-have. They are global imperatives, inextricably linked to the most significant forces shaping our world today from how business gets done to addressing climate change, global health and education.

It is with this idea in mind that we will be expanding the Bloomberg Equality franchise in March of 2021, across all editorial coverage areas and platforms, including print, digital, broadcast, streaming video, live and virtual events, and more.

We know that this is a global story with interwoven narratives that touch every aspect of our lives, and we have the ability to capture this view as no one else can with more journalists and analysts based in more countries than any other news organization. And we will apply the same facts-based, data-driven approach that is synonymous with the Bloomberg brand.

Our editorial efforts will be led by a dedicated Equality Task Force that is already working  across our newsroom, helmed by Senior Executive Editor, Americas, Jacqueline Simmons, Equality Executive Editor Rakshita Saluja, Rebecca Greenfield, team leader for Equality, and Senior Editor for Equality, Bloomberg Live and Deputy New York Bureau Chief Shartia Brantley, who introduced our expanded effort at The Year Ahead today.

We look forward to bringing you more of this crucial coverage in the year to come. In the meantime, learn more about the expansion of Bloomberg Equality and the people behind it by watching the video above.
