Bloomberg Relaunches Japanese-Language Website Featuring Unified Global Functionality and Tailored Local Experience

NEW YORK/TOKYO, December 4, 2025 — Bloomberg today announced the launch of its newly redesigned Japanese-language news website, which adopts the modern design elements and enhanced functionality of Bloomberg’s global homepage, while introducing localized features tailored to the preferences of Japanese audiences.

Key enhancements include:

  • A localized news website experience – including navigation, interface and readability, optimized for Japanese users across all devices
  • Expanded local-language news content delivering broader reporting across economic and political developments, including technology, real estate and geopolitics
  • Editorially-driven homepage modules optimized for the Japanese audience, with enhanced visibility of the day’s latest news, Bloomberg Opinion, top securities data, and newsletters
  • Enhanced multimedia offerings in Japanese including more graphics and data visualizations, live blogs, a live Bloomberg TV+ feed with Japanese captions and Bloomberg’s signature on-screen data feeds (J-bar) for real-time, glanceable data
  • Enhanced translations of Bloomberg’s original, in-depth reporting, including investigative articles from the Big Take and economic outlook and insights from Bloomberg Businessweek
  • Social media sharing via LINE, Japan’s leading messaging app, alongside existing channels

“The new website has been redesigned with a singular focus on the user experience for our Japanese audience,” said Marissa Zanetti-Crume, Global Head of Product at Bloomberg Media. “From typography to layout to functionality, every detail has been reimagined to deliver a clearer, more engaging experience, while maintaining consistency with Bloomberg’s global experience. By tailoring the site specifically to the expectations and preferences of the Japanese market, we are not only creating a more intuitive platform, but we’re also showcasing Bloomberg’s world-class data and insights in the most effective way. This enhancement allows us to better serve a key audience market, strengthen our connection with influential Japanese investors, and deliver an experience that drives engagement with Bloomberg’s unparalleled global news coverage.”

Driving this transformation is Hidefumi Nogami, Managing Editor, Japan Digital Lead at Bloomberg News. Nogami brings a wealth of experience from his tenure at NewsPicks and nearly two decades at The Asahi Shimbun. Since joining Bloomberg, he has taken the helm of Bloomberg’s new Japanese website and audience growth strategy. Drawing on the strength of Bloomberg’s Tokyo newsroom and global multimedia capabilities, Nogami will spearhead efforts to enhance the volume and variety of Japanese language content. This includes translated newsletters such as Apple and technology reporter Mark Gurman’s Power On, an expanded suite of local-language explainers, as well as Bloomberg TV and Bloomberg Originals video with Japanese subtitles.

“Bloomberg is committed to serving Japanese news consumers and decision-makers with the timely, relevant, and data-driven reporting and analysis they need to navigate an increasingly complex global landscape.” said Hidefumi Nogami. “As global economic uncertainty grows, the need for trusted journalism that connects international developments to domestic impact has never been greater. The relaunch of our Japanese-language website marks a major milestone in meeting that demand. This enhanced platform allows us to expand both the scope and format of our coverage, providing Japanese audiences with greater access to Bloomberg’s world-class business and financial journalism and data.”

The website refresh is the latest of several recent investments and partnerships Bloomberg has made in Japan. Since opening its Tokyo office in 1987, Bloomberg has been the leading provider of market data and news in the market.

Key investments and strategic partnerships include:

  • Extensive Local Bureau: Bloomberg operates the largest international newsroom in Japan, with more than 100 journalists and analysts based in Tokyo. This team delivers daily local-language news and analysis across multiple media platforms, including Bloomberg Terminal, Bloomberg TV and digital
  • The Asia Trade: A markets-led daily TV program hosted by Shery Ahn in Bloomberg’s state-of-the-art Tokyo studio, bringing Bloomberg’s audience up to speed on the top news from overnight, and an edge on Asia’s trading day ahead
  • TBS CROSS DIG with Bloomberg: Launched in 2024, Bloomberg Media’s strategic partnership with TBS delivers premium business and financial news in Japanese through a new jointly branded section on TBS NEWS DIG, one of Japan’s largest online news services operated by a broadcaster, marking a significant milestone in Bloomberg’s local language content collaboration

As part of the update, the website address will be transitioned from Bloomberg.co.jp to Bloomberg.com/jp.
