Today’s power grids may be increasingly vulnerable to cyber attacks against their control systems, ushering in a new era of cyber warfare – and cybersecurity. In a series of conversations this morning that took place in Washington, D.C, Bloomberg journalists posed the question of whether the U.S. is ready to a high-level gathering of policy and business leaders.

Bloomberg Live: The Future of the Grid explored such topics as building secure frameworks, protection standards and responding to national security threats with a group that included officials from the U.S. Departments of Energy and Homeland Security, top executives from Exelon and Entergy, and cyber security experts from the Electric Power Research Institute, the American Public Power Association, the Edison Electric Institute, and the Bipartisan Policy Center. The audience was welcomed by Bloomberg News Washington Bureau Chief Megan Murphy and Eric A. Spiegel, President and CEO of event sponsor Siemens USA.
