Bloomberg Media maintains top spot in global business video; Brexit vote big driver


Bloomberg Media released the following announcement this morning:

Bloomberg Media maintains the #1 spot in global business video, according to the June 2016 comScore Video Metrix report, business and finance category. Unique viewers increased 26% month-over-month and 41% year-over-year to 23.3 million worldwide. In the UK specifically, unique viewers grew 72.5% month-over-month, with viewers spending an average of 34 minutes watching content, the longest time in its category.

Friday, June 24, 2016, the day Brexit vote results rolled in, generated the most traffic to Bloomberg’s digital platforms since launching the new site design in January 2015 as well as its best video viewership of the year.

On Sunday, June 26, 2016, the Live TV audience on Bloomberg.com was more than double the average viewership. There was also an increase in video clip views on the vote’s impact on everything from the Labour Party’s leadership to oil and gold. Throughout the initial reporting on the Brexit vote, Bloomberg Television had guests including former ECB President Jean-Claude Trichet, former Bank of England Governor Mervyn King, former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, Janus Capital’s Bill Gross, and London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
