Stephen Carroll

Stephen Carroll is a Brussels-based anchor for Bloomberg Radio. He hosts the live ‘Bloomberg Daybreak Europe’ radio show and podcast, with Caroline Hepker in London. He also anchors the weekly explainer podcast ‘Here’s Why’. Stephen has been a TV & radio journalist for 20 years, working in France, Ireland, the UK and Belgium.

Stephen has reported on major economic, political and global stories, from the eurozone debt crisis to the 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris. Since relocating to Brussels, he has interviewed newsmakers including EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas, Economy Commissioner Valdis Dombrovkskis, and ECB policymaker Martins Kazaks. He has also hosted debates at the World Economic Forum in Davos, and the OECD in Paris.

Prior to joining Bloomberg in 2022, Stephen spent ten years at France 24 television in Paris. From Dublin, he previously worked at outlets including Sky News and RTÉ.

Stephen graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a master’s degree in comparative politics, after studying law at University College Dublin and Université Paris Nanterre. In 2019, he was selected as a Journalist in Residence at the Stigler Center of the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.Stephen’s work at Bloomberg has been recognised with prizes from the New York Press Club, Signal Awards, Anthem Awards and Publisher Podcast Awards.
