Shery Ahn is the co-anchor of “Bloomberg Markets,” 1:30-2pm ET, as well as “Bloomberg Daybreak Asia” and “Bloomberg Daybreak Australia” from 6-9pm ET on weekdays on Bloomberg Television.
Before moving to New York, Ahn joined Bloomberg Television in Hong Kong where she covered key market events including the G20 summit from Hangzhou and BOJ policy decisions from Tokyo.
Ahn has interviewed many of the most influential people in business, among them Baidu Chairman Robin Li and Danone CEO Emmanuel Faber. She has also sat down with the heads of economic organizations including the WTO’s Roberto Azevedo, OECD’s Angel Gurria and ADB’s Takehiko Nakao.
Prior to Bloomberg Television, Ahn was an anchor for NHK World in Tokyo where she hosted the network’s flagship news program, Newsline. There, she reported live on Japan’s earthquake and nuclear disaster in 2011. She also led coverage of business and economic news, interviewing the Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda and South Korea’s former Prime Minister Chung Un-chan among others. Ahn began her broadcast career with ArirangTV in Seoul as a Diplomatic Correspondent covering North Korea and the Six-Party Nuclear Talks in Beijing.
Raised in Bolivia, Ahn speaks Spanish, Korean and Japanese. She graduated cum laude from Seoul National University earning a double degree in Political Science and Communications.
