Paul Allen is the Australia correspondent for Bloomberg Television, based in Sydney. He covers financial and political news in Australia and New Zealand, and also co-hosts on Bloomberg Radio.

Allen has interviewed leading figures in political and financial news during his time as Australia correspondent for Bloomberg, including Prime Ministers, Finance and Trade Ministers, as well as CEOs of the region’s major listed companies.

Paul Allen is the Australia Correspondent for Bloomberg Television, appearing regularly to cover news including Reserve Bank of Australia decisions, earnings from some of the world’s largest resources companies, and Australia’s ongoing political upheavals. He is also a regular co-host on Bloomberg Radio, and occasionally anchors Daybreak Australia and Daybreak Asia on television.
Allen brings more than 25 years of diverse journalism experience to Bloomberg. Starting as a general and political news reporter in his native New Zealand, he later covered the Asia Pacific region for the ABC’s Radio Australia. He also covered numerous stories across Asia for Al Jazeera while based in Kuala Lumpur, including elections in Malaysia, Japan and Iran, and the first television interview with former East Timor President Jose Ramos Horta after his recovery from an assassination attempt. Allen also executive produced SportsCenter India for ESPN, working out of Singapore and New Delhi.
During his time with Bloomberg in Hong Kong and Sydney, he has interviewed many of the region’s leading newsmakers, including Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, current and former Australian Treasurers, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, ANZ CEO Shayne Elliot, Rio Tinto CEO Jean Sebastian Jacques and BHP CEO Andrew McKenzie.
