“The Business of Fashion Show with Imran Amed”: Episode Two – Reinvention

Features luxury CEOs who answer the question: who drives luxury spending now?

Episode two of “The Business of Fashion Show with Imran Amed” airs Thursday, October 14 at 9 p.m. EST on the Bloomberg Quicktake streaming network.

In this week’s episode, “Reinvention”, Business of Fashion founder & CEO, Imran Amed, visits the La Samaritaine in Paris after its reopening. He sits down with luxury executives Angelica Cheung, Venture Partner, Sequoia Capital China; Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Fashion, Chanel and François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO, Kering to discuss how the luxury market and consumer is evolving.

“Chinese luxury consumers have become more sophisticated. More and more, they are seeking exclusive products, limited editions, things that you don’t see on everybody. When they start to travel overseas one day, they expect to see different products when they go everywhere else. Why would they go to the same brand shops in Paris, Milan and London for things when they actually have everything here?” – Angelica Cheung, Venture Partner, Sequoia Capital China

“Chanel is about this new experience that we try to offer to the customers. We want them to see and touch. I know that quite often they know exactly what they want. What we notice is that when they come to the boutique and think that they want this but quite often go out with something else. They come to the boutique and discover the connection to see perhaps more than what you imagine is always good. Chanel is about a dream and we like to keep surprises.” – Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Fashion, Chanel

“This business of luxury is about human connection. Even though the crisis showed us that you need to be accessible and consumers want to continue to have a dialogue with you even if it has to be done through websites, internet and distance doesn’t mean that this is satisfactory. It’s better than not being in touch with your customer that’s why it’s working. We still need to find ways of reconnecting with people even at distance.” – François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO, Kering
