NEW YORK November 14, 2022–  (New York City) Today, Bloomberg New Economy announced program, participant and impact initiative updates for the fifth annual Bloomberg New Economy Forum, being held this week in Singapore. At a time of economic turbulence, war, the ongoing pandemic, and urgent threats such as famine and the climate crisis, the Forum is a rare opportunity for the world’s leaders to drive solutions forward.

“With so many shocks spanning so many countries and regions, only by bringing together people with the ideas, resources and ability to effect change can we make the kind of progress that the world so desperately needs,” said Erik Schatzker, Editorial Director of Bloomberg New Economy. “The New Economy Forum is a tested venue for collaboration among public- and private-sector delegates from across the globe.”

More than 500+ participants from 53 countries are scheduled to attend the New Economy Forum. Mike Bloomberg will be joined by leaders including Shou Chew, Chief Executive Officer, TikTok; Ryan Roslansky, Chief Executive Officer, LinkedIn; Neil Shen, Founding and Managing Partner, Sequoia Capital China; Dan Schulman, Chief Executive Officer, Paypal; Katherine Tai, United States Trade Representative. A full list of participants and speakers is available on the New Economy Forum website

As the Forum tackles the world’s most urgent issues, the EU has slipped into recession, inflation is finally cooling in the U.S., China is battling the threat of an economic downturn, and on the sidelines of the G-20 in Bali President Biden and President Xi are set to hold a historic meeting. Delegates will discuss solutions for promoting growth and prosperity at a time of volatility, consider bold ideas for rebuilding global supply chains, examine the limits of policy-making in an inflationary era, and devise ways to promote innovation and digitization as turmoil engulfs Twitter, Meta and FTX.

On the heels of COP27, leaders will digest lessons from Sharm El-Sheik leaders and the Forum explores the road to decarbonization, including solutions to the enormous technical obstacles and costs of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Bloomberg New Economy Coalitions and Councils drive progress on specific issues. The International Cancer Coalition launched at last year’s Forum, connecting some of the world’s most knowledgeable and influential leaders across industry, academia, and regulatory bodies to elevate global collaboration on cancer clinical trials. Additional solutions-driven thought leadership comes from four Bloomberg New Economy Councils, composed of CEOs, public sector leaders, academics, and entrepreneurs. Building on expert research and insights from McKinsey & Company, BloombergNEF, Bloomberg Economics, and Bloomberg Intelligence, New Economy Councils work on developing frameworks for policy and roadmaps for corporate action in crucial issues of finance, health, cities, trade and climate.

By empowering ideas with capital and convening the most energetic, imaginative and capable people to confront our collective challenges, Bloomberg New Economy hopes to foster a dynamic environment where innovation thrives, growth is sustainable, excesses are contained, outcomes are more equitable, and prosperity is shared.

The 2022 Bloomberg New Economy Founding Partners are: Bayer, Envision Group, Holcim, HSBC, Hyundai Motor Company, Mastercard, and Tata Sons. Our Presenting Partners are: PwC and Standard Chartered.
