Bloomberg News has won two 2026 National Magazine Awards for the “Can’t Look Away” documentary and the “FOIA Files” newsletter. Presented by the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) in association with the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, the ASME Awards are among the most prestigious awards for magazines and websites in the US.
In the video category, Bloomberg News was honored for “Can’t Look Away,” produced and directed by Matthew O’Neill and Perri Peltz, based on reporting by Olivia Carville, and executive produced by Kristin Powers. The documentary feature film exposes the real-world consequences of social media algorithms that exploit and endanger vulnerable young users.
Bloomberg News also won in the newsletters category for three editions of Jason Leopold’s “FOIA Files” for “How Trump’s Presidency Is Impacting the FOIA,” “FBI Agents, FOIA Staff Pulling All Nighters Reviewing Jeffrey Epstein Files,” and “Trump Ordered a Mountain Name Change. It Could Be an Uphill Battle.”
Bloomberg earned four additional finalist nominations across three categories for the following reporting:
