Bloomberg Television enhances European Programming

London, December 9, 2019 — Bloomberg Television announces changes to its European morning programming, including Bloomberg Markets: European Open and Daybreak Europe, effective today. The enhanced schedule follows the expansion of Bloomberg’s Berlin studio earlier this year and reflects the growing role and importance of European financial markets globally. The changes reflect Bloomberg’s continued commitment to providing market moving news wherever audiences are located.

From today, Bloomberg Markets: European Open will be expanded by 30 minutes to become a two hour show, from 0700-0900 GMT and will provide greater insight and analysis across the continent. Co-anchored from London and Berlin with Anna Edwards and Matthew Miller, the expanded show will feature increased contributions from reporters and guests in continental Europe to help the Bloomberg audience navigate Europe’s changing business landscape.

Daybreak Europe has been condensed into one high-impact hour, broadcast from 0600-0700 GMT. The show will continue to provide insights into the day’s most pressing topics– providing pithy, cross-cutting analysis of market developments. Viewers can expect more news — with a higher story count — and analysis that cuts to the core of the stories that matter to global markets. Manus Cranny will continue to co-host from Dubai with Nejra Cehic in London.

Both shows will set the business and markets agenda for the UK and Europe with original content that provides smart and actionable insight for decision makers – from trading floors to boardrooms. They will draw on the resources of Bloomberg’s network of more than 2,700 journalists, analysts and economists. Recent European guests have included Olaf Scholz, Federal Minister of Germany for Finance and EU Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis.

Al Mayers, Global Head of Bloomberg Television and Radio said: “As Brexit shifts the center of gravity of finance in Europe, we must ensure our coverage reflects the priorities of our audiences across the continent. In a changing economic landscape, Bloomberg will continue to provide clients and audiences with business-critical insight when they need it the most. Bloomberg continues to be the definitive destination for financial professionals and decision makers right across the globe.”
