Bloomberg Radio Launches across Greater London on DAB Digital Radio

LONDON, October 24, 2016: Bloomberg today announced the launch of Bloomberg Radio London on DAB digital radio across Greater London. Licensed by Digital Rights Group, Bloomberg Radio will broadcast on the London 3 local multiplex to become one of up to 80 stations available to listeners in the greater London area on DAB digital radio, free of charge.

Bloomberg Radio London makes UK leaders smarter, faster with locally relevant programming– including live daily morning show ‘Bloomberg Daybreak Europe’ (6-10am GMT), ‘Bloomberg Markets: European Close’ (4-5pm GMT) and simulcast of Bloomberg Television London throughout the market day. At a time when over half of UK households and 86% of new vehicles have DAB digital radio, Bloomberg Radio London leverages DAB’s growing adoption to reach listeners across Greater London.

“This is an exciting step in the expansion of Bloomberg Radio around the world as we continue to grow our premium audience of business and financial decision-makers,” says Al Mayers, global head of Bloomberg Television & Radio. “Each morning, a broader audience of waking listeners in the UK will now be able to start their day with live breaking news, insights and in-depth analysis of the most pressing business and financial issues from Bloomberg.”

Bloomberg Radio delivers 24/7 market-moving news and analysis to a global audience of business leaders, financial professionals and C-suite executives. Originating from its London, New York, Washington D.C, Boston, San Francisco and Hong Kong bureaux, the programming draws on the strength of Bloomberg’s 2,600 journalists and analysts across more than 120 countries who produce more than 5,000 stories each day. Bloomberg Television and Radio have the highest median household and personal income of all measured broadcasters according to the 2016 Ipsos Affluent Survey.

Bloomberg Radio is currently available in the UK via the Bloomberg Radio+ app for Apple iPhone and Android, online at bloombergradio.com and via the Radioplayer app in the UK. Bloomberg Radio is also available on Apple Music in more than 100 countries including the UK, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the U.S., Argentina and Zimbabwe, among others.

Bloomberg Radio programming from Europe launched earlier this year with flagship European breakfast show ‘Bloomberg Daybreak Europe’, which airs each business day from London at 6am – 10am BST. Hosts Caroline Hepker (formerly of BBC Radio 5LIVE’s ‘Wake Up to Money’) and Markus Karlsson (formerly Business Editor at France 24), and fellow anchors Guy Johnson, Nejra Cehic, Jonathan Ferro and Manus Cranny follow market moves in Asia, break news as European markets open and set up listeners as the U.S. begins its business day.

Bloomberg Radio joins London DAB via an agreement with Digital Radio Group, a consortium of Global Radio, SMG, UTV and Carphone Warehouse. Traffic and travel reports will be broadcast every 15 minutes on weekdays from 6-10am GMT and again from 3-8pm GMT.

Listeners may need to retune their digital radio to first receive Bloomberg Radio London. Retuning a DAB digital radio is a simple process.
