Bloomberg Nominated for News and Documentary Emmy Award

Bloomberg has earned a nomination for the 43rd Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards, announced today, for Bloomberg Quicktake’s “The Systemic Overtaxing of Black Homes in America” in the Outstanding Business, Consumer or Economic Coverage category.

Part of Bloomberg’s The Pay Check series, the video shows the fundamental inequality in how property taxes are assessed in Black neighborhoods across the U.S. Produced by Leila Hussain with reporting and data analysis by Jason Grotto, and edited by Carla Howe, it is an intimate portrait of one woman’s struggle that also reveals a broader picture of institutional racism through local taxes, bringing wider attention to systemic inequity. Following the report, a White House task force met with local property tax assessors across the U.S. to explore providing federal data to help local assessors do a better job.

Winners in the news categories will be announced on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
