Bloomberg News, DCTV, and Jolt Receive Peabody Award Nomination for Can’t Look Away: The Case Against Social Media


NEW YORK (April 7, 2026) — Bloomberg News, DCTV, and Jolt have received a Peabody Award nomination for Can’t Look Away: The Case Against Social Media in the Documentary category. Category nominees are selected to represent the most captivating and impactful stories released in 2025 across broadcasting and streaming media.

Can’t Look Away addresses the urgent public health crisis posed by social media’s unchecked power, focusing on the heartbreaking stories of families affected by its harmful impact on young people. By embedding with grieving families and legal advocates, the film combines personal narratives with investigative reporting to spark critical conversations about social media reform and encourage viewers to reflect on their own digital relationships.

The film is produced by DCTV for Bloomberg Originals and Bloomberg Businessweek Films. O’Neill and Peltz direct and produce. Kristin Powers is an executive producer and Carville is a contributing producer. The film is edited by David Meneses, produced by Anna Casper and has original music by Jonathan Zalben.

The final winners from all categories will be announced on April 23, and the awards presentation ceremony will take place on May 31 in Beverly Hills. Peabody is based at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.
