Bloomberg To Bring Multi-Platform Political Coverage to Party Conventions

Presence in Cleveland and Philadelphia will include a robust team of journalists and analysts, and feature live broadcasts of “With All Due Respect” and “Charlie Rose”

NEW YORK — Bloomberg Politics will bring its fast-paced news and authoritative political analysis to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland and the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia this summer, covering every angle of these historic events in what has become an unprecedented election cycle.  A team of the organization’s top political journalists and producers led by Washington Bureau Chief Megan Murphy will continue producing the news-breaking and market-moving stories, and coverage across Bloomberg Television, that have made Bloomberg an essential player in this cycle’s election coverage.  Bloomberg TV’s “With All Due Respect,” hosted by Bloomberg Politics’ co-managing editors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann and simulcast on DC/99.1 radio, and “Charlie Rose,” hosted by Charlie Rose, will broadcast live from both cities and continue its unrivaled access to top campaign officials and newsmakers.

Together with renowned political journalist and Bloomberg View columnist Al Hunt , Halperin and Heilemann will also host daily editorial briefings that bring together the nation’s top political journalists with key party leaders, campaign operatives, and donors for conversations that often drive the day’s news coverage. The team hosted similar events earlier this year leading up to the Iowa Caucus and New Hampshire Primary that featured guests such as Dr. Ben Carson, Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Joni Ernst, Senator Chuck Grassley, Governor John Kasich, Clinton Campaign Manager Robby Mook, and former Governor John Sununu.

Bloomberg View will weigh in daily as well with expert commentary from its roster of writers and columnists.
Additionally, Bloomberg will host a series of panels and events that drill down on specific policy initiatives central to this year’s campaigns. These discussions will be in partnership with Bloomberg sponsors and help support the goals of the entire Bloomberg organization, including Bloomberg BNA, Bloomberg Businessweek, Bloomberg Government, and the financial and enterprise product business.

“The Circus,” which airs on Showtime and is produced in cooperation with Bloomberg Politics, will be shooting new episodes at both conventions as well.

“In what is shaping up to be the most consequential and dynamic election in recent history, Bloomberg has made significant investments to  ensure our viewers, readers, and clients have access to critical news quickly and the substantive analysis that matters on whatever platform they prefer,” said Megan Murphy, Bloomberg News Washington Bureau Chief.  “Our team will be well-positioned at both conventions to deliver on that promise, offering exclusive access to influencers in business, government and media and insight into the issues and decisions that will impact November’s results.”

In Cleveland, Bloomberg events will be centered at Ristorante Chinato, located at the corner of Prospect Avenue and E 4th Street and a very short walk to convention headquarters at the Quicken Loans Arena. Special events include a discussion about economic development and urban opportunity in American cities, co-hosted by prominent global law firm Jones Day, founded in Cleveland nearly 125 years ago; and an event focused on the future of healthcare with Cleveland’s largest employer Cleveland Clinic.

In Philadelphia, Bloomberg events will be centered at Le Méridien Philadelphia in Center City adjacent to City Hall. Special events include a conversation on infrastructure in America, a hot topic this election season, with former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell; and a panel featuring historian David Eisenhower on the historical implications of this election, held in the backdrop of America’s first capital city.

Bloomberg Politics and Uber will also host discussions at both conventions on the topic of the sharing economy, transportation policy, and politics.
