The new series will follow the former British Prime Minister as he explores the personal impact of Alzheimer’s and the breakthroughs transforming its detection and treatment. The series launches on 16 November.
LONDON – [30 September 2026] – Bloomberg today announced Ending Alzheimer’s, a new four-part podcast series following former British Prime Minister David Cameron as he explores one of the world’s most devastating diseases – and asks what the future holds for its treatment and the search for a cure. The first episode launches on 16 November. (Watch the teaser video here.)
Lord Cameron’s interest is not only professional – he serves as President of Alzheimer’s Research UK– but also deeply personal: he is one of millions who have sadly lost a loved one to Alzheimer’s or dementia. In Ending Alzheimer’s, he draws on his own family’s experience while meeting the scientists, researchers, and others at the forefront of international breakthroughs in Alzheimer’s research.
In the first episode, Lord Cameron speaks candidly about his mother Mary’s long battle with Alzheimer’s. Together with his sisters, he reflects on their family’s first-hand experience of her diagnosis, the challenges of caring for her, and the impact of her loss.
The series follows Lord Cameron on a journey of discovery, exploring the increasingly bright future of Alzheimer’s treatment. Lord Cameron visits laboratories and universities to meet scientists developing new ways to detect, understand, and treat the disease, finding out how advances in research are changing what may be possible for patients and their families. Ending Alzheimer’s also examines the role artificial intelligence might play in accelerating this research, from identifying the disease earlier to helping scientists develop new treatments.
David Cameron said:
“As Prime Minister I made dementia a political priority, leading efforts to double investment in research and putting the issue on the global agenda. It was only after I left office that it became personal too, as my mother started to decline with the disease. In this podcast, I invite listeners to join me on a journey of discovery as I explore the groundbreaking research and exciting breakthroughs being made in the search for a cure of this devastating disease. Although we sadly lost my dear mum last year, the hope is that somewhere, someone alive today could be the first one cured of Alzheimer’s. Join me, as I find out how.”
John Micklethwait, Editor-in-Chief of Bloomberg said:
“An extraordinary number of families around the world have been affected by Alzheimer’s. Drawing on all his experience, both personal and professional, David Cameron shines a unique light on the new research and treatment for this devastating disease – and explains why we are hopefully reaching a turning point.”
Lord Cameron serves as the President of Alzheimer’s Research UK, the UK’s leading dementia research charity.
Hilary Evans-Newton CBE, Chief Executive at Alzheimer’s Research UK, said:
“The hope and progress covered in this new podcast series show why we believe that a cure for Alzheimer’s is in sight. But only research will get us there, faster. We are excited by this series from Bloomberg exploring the latest promising research and what this could mean for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. It captures the optimism we are seeing in research across diagnosis, treatment, and prevention and progress towards a cure.
Ending Alzheimer’s is produced by Kaleidoscope with Bloomberg.
