At the India AI Impact Summit, Bloomberg New Economy Gathered Leaders to Confront a Defining Question of the Moment: Who’s in Control?

On February 20 at The Leela Palace New Delhi, Bloomberg New Economy convened senior global leaders for a special breakfast session themed Who’s in Control? Ahead of the eighth Bloomberg New Economy Forum, October 13-15 – hosted by India for the first time – the discussion focused on AI sovereignty: who owns the infrastructure, shapes the rules and captures the economic upside of artificial intelligence.

H.E. Ashwini Vaishnaw, India’s Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics and Information Technology, shared opening remarks before handing the floor to Erik Schatzker, Editorial Director of Bloomberg New Economy, for a conversation with former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and an open dialogue with the attendees.

Vaishnaw outlined India’s plan to build domestic models and chips, expand shared compute and leverage the AI summit to attract investment. Sunak encouraged countries to secure a strong position in a key part of the AI supply chain, diversify providers and deepen international partnerships to build resilience and seize the opportunity.
